Specialty Camps: 3rd through 5th Grade

Our two-week Specialty Camps offer programs for a wide variety of interests that campers might have. Specialty Camps are offered to campers entering 3rd through 5th grade.

While participating in Specialty Camp, campers spend approximately half of their day in specialty based programming, and half of the day participating in traditional camp activities. Some traditional camp activities we offer include art, indoor sports, nature, music, ropes/challenge course, team sports, crafts, theater arts, field sports, clay, newcomb, kickball, archery, and more. Just like Full Day camp, each camper in Specialty Camp will have time in the pool.

All of our Specialty Instructors are exceptionally qualified and have many years of experience in youth education.

Session 2 - Raid the Arcade: Design Your Own Arcade Experience

Ready to step into the electrifying world of arcade game design? In this hands-on course, you'll journey through the golden age of gaming to unlock the secrets behind timeless classics like Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, and Space Invaders. You'll dive deep into what makes these games irresistibly fun while exploring different game genres – from heart-pounding platformers to mind-bending mazes.

But this isn't just about playing games – it's about creating them! You'll split your time between coding your own arcade masterpiece and engineering a real arcade cabinet to house it. You'll discover how cabinet art and design lures players in, how controls shape the gaming experience, and how different game types keep players coming back for "just one more quarter."

The course culminates in your ultimate arcade achievement: a fully playable original game housed in your very own custom-built cabinet, complete with hand-crafted controls you've installed yourself.
Session 3 - Footloose Robotics: Create, Code, Move!

Ever dreamed of commanding your own robot army? In Footloose Robotics, you'll dive into the exciting world of robotics using LEGO SPIKE Prime to bring your mechanical creations to life! You'll start as a rookie robot engineer and transform into a master builder and programmer through hands-on challenges that get more thrilling with each build.

Want to program a robot that can explore distant planets? How about designing a rescue bot that can navigate through tricky terrain? Or maybe you'd rather create a robot that can plant a garden or star in its own dance production? You'll do all this and more as you learn to build robots that can work independently, perform precise tasks, and even team up with other robots to tackle bigger challenges.

Get ready to unleash your creativity as you combine the precision of programming with the excitement of building to create robots that can change the world – one block at a time!
Session 4 - Animation Studio: Bring Your Stories to Life!

Ready to transform your imagination into moving magic? In this hands-on animation adventure, you'll master multiple animation techniques that have delighted audiences from Snow White to Wallace and Gromit! Whether you're sculpting characters from clay, drawing frame by frame, creating puppet stars, or mixing different media in creative ways, you'll learn the secrets that make animation come alive.

Get ready to build miniature movie sets, construct wire armatures that give your characters their moves, and craft storyboards that turn your ideas into action. You'll discover how to make characters walk, jump, and dance as you capture each movement frame by frame. Then, using professional video editing software, you'll add sound effects and music that make your stories soar.

By course end, you'll create two festival-ready original shorts that showcase your artistic vision. Lights. Camera. Animate! Your stories are about to jump off the page!

Session 2 - Room Redesign: Mystery Clients

Step into the world of interior design with a twist! In this creative and hands-on program, campers will channel their inner designers as they tackle exciting challenges to redesign spaces for surprise mystery clients. From a famous athlete who needs a space to train and also relax, to a mad scientist looking for the perfect lab, each client will bring unique needs and quirks that inspire imaginative solutions.

Along the way, campers will learn about problem-solving, color theory, spatial planning, and how to create functional spaces with personality. Whether it’s a vibrant room for a pop star or a zoologist's dream animal sanctuary, every redesign will be a chance to let creativity shine. Get ready to think outside the box and transform ordinary spaces into extraordinary places!
Session 3 - Theater Camp: Let's Put on a Show!

Theater is a great venue for expression and increased self-confidence! Through improvisational games and activities, we will create a cabaret of songs, scenes, and dances. Students will also work together to create text, props, costumes and small set pieces for their final play. Let’s build a show together!
Session 4 - Time Travelers: Adventure through the Ages

Embark on an exciting adventure through time in this specialty camp! Together, we’ll travel back to explore ancient civilizations, mighty dinosaurs, and more. Campers will uncover the secrets of Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs, dive into the enchanting world of Medieval fairytales, and meet the legendary Greek Gods and Goddesses. They’ll even journey to the Jurassic period to learn about the fascinating creatures that roamed the Earth millions of years ago!

Each day is packed with hands-on activities like crafting, storytelling, and games that bring these time periods to life. Campers will create unique art projects inspired by the past, solve historical puzzles, and enjoy interactive adventures. Blending history, creativity, and discovery, this camp will inspire imaginations and create memories that last a lifetime. Get ready for a time-traveling adventure through the ages.

Counselor to Camper Ratio

The counselor to camper ratio for our specialty camps is 1 counselor for every 5 campers. The group staff is comprised of a specialty instructor with vast knowledge and teaching experience, along with group counselors to help the instructor during specialty activity periods. The group counselors travel with the group throughout the day to their traditional camp activity periods as well.

Each week we have a special theme and campers can dress up on Fridays if they choose. Our "Fun Friday" activities are created around the weekly themes.
